Colour grading
Colour grading is the adjustment of colour and contrast in post-production. First shots are matched so they cut together, then the footage gets the final look that fits the brand.
What it means in practice
These are two different jobs often collapsed into one word. Correction is technical work so skin is not green and two shots lit differently read as one scene. Grading is the creative call on whether the video should feel warm, cool or neutral.
Honestly: grading will not save a badly lit shot. Save money on lighting expecting to fix it in colour and you get noise in the shadows and a flat face. Money spent on light on set always returns more than money spent on colour after it.
